Adult Ministries Pastor

First Family Church

Overland Park, KS

Before his academic responsibilities demanded additional attention in the Winter of 2008, Pastor Cardoza was privileged to serve alongside Founding and Senior Pastor Jerry Johnston on the Executive Leadership team of First Family Church of Overland Park, Kansas, outside Kansas City.

First Family Church began in 1996 and has grown to a membership to 5000+ congregants. It housed in a new and outstanding facility on 55 acres. First Family is currently one of the fastest-growing churches in the United States.

In his time there, Pastor Cardoza led the Adult Educational and Support Ministries of the church. He was responsible for the leadership, equipping and training of the various Adult Bible Fellowship Classes, the Ushers, Greeters, Security, Parking, Men's Ministry, Women's Ministry, Kitchen, and assists in the overall assimilation processes for the hundreds of new members who join First Family Church each year.

Armitage Baptist Church

Chicago, IL

Armitage Church is a large, urban church in the heart of the city of Chicago, comprised of some 4500 congregants hailing from approximately 50 nationalities. In 2006, Dr. Cardoza helped Pastor Charles Lyons launch some 80 small groups in a 100+ mile square across greater Chicagoland. All total, Cardoza coordinated approximately 100 weekly small groups and Bible studies and their staffs.

In his role at Armitage, Pastor Cardoza oversaw the various educational ministries and staff of the church. This includes the preschool, children, youth, single adult, men's and women's ministries, and the Chicago International Academy.

In addition to his role at the church, in 2004 Dr. Cardoza launched the Chicago Extension for Southern Seminary, where he served as the Director until his departure in 2006. He concurrently served as the Vice-Chair for the Chicago Metropolitan Baptist Association (CMBA) and on the Illinois State Baptist Association (IBSA) Committee on Committees.

Single Adult Pastor

Grand Avenue Baptist Church

Fort Smith, AR

Grand Avenue Baptist is one of the leading Southern Baptist Convention churches in the state of Arkansas. In its histgory, it has given birth to both a Vietnamese and Loatian congregation.

In his position at Grand Avenue, Freddy led the various ministries and personnel related to the Collegiate, Single Adult Ministries and, for a time, the Youth Ministry of the church. In addition, Pastor Freddy served in the same capacity of a teaching pastor under the authority of the church's then-Senior Pastor, Dr. Bill Blanchard.

In his role, Pastor Cardoza taught the midweek Bible Study, multiple Sunday Night services throughout the year, and also preached multiple times annually during Sunday Morning worship services.

While at Grand Avenue, under the leadership of Dr. Bill Blanchard, the staff of the church saw the most expansive growth in the history of the congregation. For more than 30 consecutive months, the church's attendance and offerings were higher than the same month of the previous year.

Associate Pastor

Immanuel Baptist Church

Glasgow, KY

While attending Ph.D. doctoral studies, Pastor Cardoza served full-time at the Immanuel Baptist Church, a young, vibrant church in central Kentucky, near Bowling Green. In this capacity, Cardoza served as overseer of the daily Pre-School program and staff, as well as the educational ministries and the student ministries.

Minister to Students

First Baptist Church

Soddy-Daisy, TN

After completing his Master's Degree, Pastor Cardoza served for nearly four years as the Minister to Students in a suburb of Chattanooga, Tennessee. While teaching undergraduate classes in youth, children's, and educational ministries at nearby Bryan College, Cardoza led the youth ministry at First Baptist to become one of the area's strongest. Several students from that ministry have entered or are preparing to enter full-time Christian service.

Durham, NC

While completing his Master of Arts in Christian Education, Freddy served for over 3 years at the Bahama Church in Durham, North Carolina. Beginning as Student Minister, he then assumed leadership of the church's educational ministries, as well as preaching regularly when a vacancy occurred in the senior pastorate. The student ministry had a significant impact and some of those youth are now also in vocational ministry.
